All Pellets

As one of the first retail stores in the country to realize the importance of pelleted or extruded diets, we can tell you from first hand experience that, as a general rule, parrots do better on these diets. Parrots will grow nicer plumage, have better dispositions, have fewer vet visits (and will have droppings that are much easier to clean) than birds that are on strict seed diets.

We only carry formulated diets from companies that have researched their food for years. These companies include Zupreem, Goldenfeast, Kaytee , Harrisons Bird Diets, and Prettybird .

Keep in mind that some parrots will not take to pellets ever; for these birds, you should choose a high quality seed diet and add vitamins to the seeds and/or the moist food given as treats. We have found that most Cockatiels do better on a high quality seed diet than they do on a formulated diet.

Also, we suggest adding 20-30% of high quality seed diets and fresh foods (especially cooked sweet potato, blanched broccoli, and dark green leafy greens) to your formulated diet. As well, try to create foraging opportunities for your bird so they must seek out their food and/or treats. Vine balls are an inexpensive way to start your bird on learning how to forage again. We offer many different sizes of these awesome, inexpensive items which can be filled with numerous treats.
