These food items may be used (by combining several items) as a main diet, and as supplements to birds on a pelleted diet.

It is especially important for birds on a pelleted diet to be given high grade, high quality food in addition to their pellets for several reasons. First, foraging for food is critical for parrots. Try to hide food around the cage, in foraging toys. Also, the variety of different food stimulates the bird so that it does not get bored with pellets. Imagine life if you were only fed a plain diet with most of your dietary requirements and nothing else - it would get boring quickly and you would most likely get depressed.
