Perfect Lory
Physical Description: The Perfect Lory is almost entirely green. Their head and chest are light or olive green, while the rest of the body is darker. Their beaks and eyes are bright orange which makes them stand out against the green feathers.
Average Lifespan: 15 – 20 years
Sexing: Sexing these birds requires a DNA test, as they are not sexually dimorphic and you cannot tell the sex just by looking at them.
Origin: Indonesia
Trainability: Perfect Lorikeets should generally be kept singly. Pairs tend to become aggressive once they reach maturity. They are very inquisitive, high-energy birds that are always looking for something to do. They enjoy swings, ladders, and anything that requires them to exercise. Because of the amount of care required for these birds, we typically recommend them for adults only. However, we have known a few children that were given these birds and did really well with them (with adult supervision of course).
Loudness: Perfect Lorikeets have a raspy, buzzing sort of call. They do not squawk or scream, but they do have a high-pitched call. As a general rule, their call is not bothersome. However, if you live in an area where those around you are very concerned with noise, you may want to investigate a few other parrot species before making a decision.
Pricing: Perfect Lorikeets are moderately priced. Feel free to call our store at (954) 725-0088 for pricing and availability.
** A special note about Perfect Lorikeets – Like all Lories, these bird require a nectar diet to maintain optimal health and longevity. They benefit greatly from fresh cut fruits and juices/nectar, but many Lories will eat Lory Powder which can be purchased at most bird stores.
