Physical Description: The Yellow-Nape Amazon is 12-15 inches in height from heat to tail. The can weigh between 480-680 grams. Their distinguishing features are the yellow band of feathers that can be found on the nape or back of the neck. A young nape may have little or no yellow as this coloration develops with age. The body of the yellow-nape is beautiful green. They have a dark grey beak with the upper beak being somewhat lighter and they have grey feet.
Average Lifespan: 35-60 years

This bird can be a very rowdy bird and when entertaining you they can be loud. Distracting your bird during their more boisterous times will help to curtail their call.
Trainability: Yellow-napes love to chew so it is important to make sure that they have ample chew toys that include combinations of wood, leather, and cloth. Like all Amazons, the Yellow-Nape is a very dominant bird and will try to over-power if given the chance. It is important to spend quality time with your bird, providing redirection when needed. If you let your bird know that you are the boss, training will be an enjoyable experience for you and your bird.
